Geoffrey Calls For All NHS Car Parking Charges To Be Abolished
Geoffrey Robinson MP is calling on car parking charges to be abolished at every NHS hospital throughout England, following an announcement that car parking charges are to be abolished at NHS hospitals across Scotland.

The move, which takes effect from 31 December, applies to 14 hospitals where fees operate. Charges at three PFI car parks will not be scrapped.

Already in Wales, patients, staff and visitors will be able to park free at almost every NHS hospital by the end of 2011.

We Need More Park-keepers To Make Our Playgrounds Safe

Cllr. Ed Ruane is calling on the Council to allocate additional resources for more park keepers in response to the Council’s Playbuilder programme, where 6 play areas will be developed by March 2009 and a further 14-19 will be developed by March 2011. There are two new play areas in this years programme.

Ed said: “The construction of new play areas in the past have been met with a large amount of opposition from local residents, such as Lakeview Road and Radford Common, due to the level of anti-social behaviour these sites can attract.”

“It is clear from the public's reaction that the Council’s first duty is to propose a raft of measures to help reclaim these public spaces, including play areas, from fear of gangs and the absence of adult authority figures. I believe that too many parks in our city have no supervision at all.”

Geoffrey Signs Petition for Windfall Tax on Energy Firms

Notable among the names on the list are the former paymaster-general and key Brown ally Geoffrey Robinson, who devised the last windfall tax in 1997. This raised £4.5bn and was ploughed into Labour's new deal for the unemployed.
Geoffrey said: “These companies are making billions - they should have to put some back to help those in genuine need.”

Hillman House Residents Vow To Fight Pub Plans
Hillman House residents, in the heart of the city centre, are far from being down hearted despite the fact that a new development beneath their homes has been given the go ahead by the planning committee on Coventry City Council.  Residents had opposed the application to change the old What Everyone Wants store into a restaurant and late night pub.  Residents were worried about the increase in noise, traffic and anti social behaviour.
